How to Edit a Canva Invitation on Your Phone (iPhone & Android)

No laptop? No problem. You can edit your whole invitation on your phone, from changing the name and date to adding a photo and downloading a file to send by text. It takes about ten minutes.

Here is a step-by-step guide for iPhone and Android, plus fixes for the most common phone problems.

Step 1: Get the free Canva app (optional)

Download Canva from the App Store or Google Play and sign in, or create a free account. You can also skip the app and edit in Safari or Chrome. Both work.

Step 2: Open your template link

1. Open the email with your template link and tap it.
2. If it opens in your browser, sign in to Canva there.
3. Tap Use template for new design (or the similar button shown). This saves your own copy in your Canva account.
4. From now on you can find it in the app under your recent designs.

Step 3: Change the text

1. Tap a text box to select it.
2. Tap it again (or tap Edit) to bring up the keyboard and type your details.
3. Use the bottom toolbar to change the font, size or color.
4. Pinch to zoom in on small text like the address.

Step 4: Add your photo

1. Tap + or Uploads and choose your photo.
2. Drag it onto the photo frame in the template. It snaps into place.
3. Double-tap the photo to move or crop it inside the frame.

Step 5: Download and send

1. Tap the Share icon at the top.
2. Tap Download, choose PNG for texting or PDF Print for printing.

Common phone problems and fixes

• I can't select the text, the background moves instead: the background may be locked or you are tapping just outside the box. Zoom in and tap directly on a letter.
• The text is too long and jumps to a new line: make the font a little smaller, or drag the side handle of the text box to widen it.
• My changes disappeared: make sure you are editing your own copy (opened with "Use template"), not the original link.
