How to Resize a Canva Template for Printing or Posting
Share
Want your invitation as a printed 5x7 card and an Instagram story? Resizing a Canva design is quick — here's how to do it without starting over.
The easy way: start with the right size
Our templates come pre-sized for their purpose (most invitations are 5x7 inches, ideal for printing). If you only need that size, you're ready to print or share — no resizing needed.
Resizing with Canva
Canva's resize feature (available with Canva Pro) lets you copy a design into a new size in one click. If you have Pro, open your design, click Resize, choose your new dimensions, and Canva creates a copy.

No Pro? You can still adjust sizes:
- Create a new design in the size you need (e.g. 1080x1920 px for a story)
- Copy the elements from your template and paste them in
- Reposition to fit the new dimensions
Best sizes to know
- Printed invitation: 5x7 inches
- Instagram post: 1080x1080 px
- Instagram/Facebook story: 1080x1920 px
